Our Role in DHAC

Hilbengrace Medical Center, in collaboration with USAID Zambia, Accessible Market for Health, and the Zambia Center for Communication Programs (ZCCP-Kwatu), is proud to announce the launch of our Gender-Based Violence (GBV) project. This initiative aims to address the pervasive issue of GBV in Zambia and provide comprehensive support to survivors.

Project Objectives

Our GBV project is guided by four key objectives:

1. Reduced GBV Incidence and Increased Support for Gender Equality: We strive to create a safer environment for women and girls by reducing the incidence of GBV and promoting gender equality. This includes raising awareness about GBV, challenging harmful gender norms, and empowering individuals to speak out against violence.
2. Increased Access to Post-GBV Services: We are committed to ensuring that survivors of GBV have access to essential post-GBV services, including medical care, counseling, and legal assistance. By strengthening the capacity of One-Stop Centers (OSCs) and HIV Treatment sites, we aim to provide comprehensive and timely support to those in need.
3. Strengthened Capacity of GRZ and COBs to Prevent and Respond to GBV: We believe that effective prevention and response to GBV require strong institutional capacity. Through training and capacity-building programs, we are working to enhance the ability of government agencies and community-based organizations (COBs) to prevent GBV and provide appropriate support to survivors.
4. Strengthened Statutory and Customary Law: We recognize the importance of legal frameworks in addressing GBV. By advocating for reforms to statutory and customary laws, we aim to create a legal environment that protects the rights of survivors and holds perpetrators accountable.
